Staying fit and healthy with HGS Hip Hop fun

After a successfully launch of the Hip hop Dance Festival last year, Holiday Gym and Spa, the premier health and wellness center in Davao City did it again this year.
HGS, in cooperation with Groove Unlimited Dance Community, held the 2nd Davao Hip Hop Mania last November 21 at The Tent of Matina Town Square.
The event featured a hip hop group dance competition and a Hip hop Aero Marathon.
Open to all hip hop aero enthusiasts ages 15 years old and above, the marathon ran for two hours with one minute water breaks at certain intervals and follow an aero format complete with warm-up and cool down.
The Hip hop Dance competition is open to all recognized members of the Groove Unlimited Dance Community and dance crews should not be less than three and not more than six members. Hip hop and fitness enthusiasts all chanted, rapped and danced the HGS campaign for healthy living.
The judges for the group dance competition were Gian Carlo Betil of Infinity, Ryan Co of Groove Unlimited, Gianne Carlo Chua of Bandila Fusion. All three are members of Team Davao City for the World Supremacy Battlegrounds and the Philippine National Urban Dance Championships 2008 and 2009 in Manila .The judges are also among the key persons in the growth of and improvement of the Groove Unlimited Dance Community. The Judges for the hiphop aero marathon were Vanessa Ruth Chan, Diwa ng Davao 2009; Vicky Javier, fitness director of BeeFit Gym; and Arnold Alvarez of Maharlika Dance Company.
The winners for the hip hop aero marathon male divison are: Rudy Daņo- champion; Godfrey Calipayan- first runner-up; Skerry June Retiza- second runner-up. The winners for the hip-hop aero marathon female division are: Marjorie Caņon- champion; Analyn Torno- first runner-up; and Mila Yu- second runner up.
For the hip-hop dance competition, bagging the first place was The Body Extreme, taking home P10,000 and trophy. The fist runner-up was 7 @ mix, briniging home P5,000 and plaque. The second runner-up was the Modified Brothers, taking home P3,000 and plaque.
The prizes for the hip hop aero marathon were: P2,500 and trophy for male and female champions, P1,500 and plaque for male and female first runners up; P1,000 and plaque for male and female second runners-up.
HGS extends its gratitude to Groove Unlimited Dance Community, H2Zero, PN Ninte Metals & Crafts, Holiday Spa, BluGre' Coffee, and COKE and Matina Town Square for helping make the event a successful one.
