Holiday Gym and Spa, the premier health and wellness center in Davao City, is setting off running at an early start.
As the May election fever draws near, so does the health and wellness fever rise at HGS.
Holiday Gym held a 21-kilometer challenge for all its members, which kicked off last January 11 and ended on January 16.
Participants of the HOliday's 21-K Challenge must complete 105 rounds of walking, jogging or running, to complete the 21 kilometers at the covered track within the given dates.
Challenger, who were allowed a maximum of 50 rounds or laps in a day, signed up with the HGS gym instructors who also served as official time keepers and lap counters. The limit has been set so as to avoid injury especially for those who are just starting to get into running.
Thus this challenge is really a personal one and not a contest on who finishes first. All finishers received one week free use of the gym.
HGS held the 21K challenge to help clients jump start their workout and at the same time to serve as a good practice ground as the gym prepares for the future 5k and 10K marathon.
Of the 140 HGS members who registered for the 21K challenge, 97 were able to complete the entire 105 rounds.
With that preparation, Holiday has decided to come up with a 5K run for starters, especially for those who have learned to love running as a form of exercise.
Running is one of the most effective, time-efficient workouts around. However, if you get off on the wrong foot, it is hard to stay motivated and can lead to disappointment. Starting and sticking with a running program does not have to be difficult. It’s simply a matter of doing the right thing at the right time.
The first run for the year is set on February 7, dubbed Members Only 5K run For The Heart. Exclusively for HGS members, part of the P50 registration fee will go to the Davao Children Cancer Fund Inc or House of Hope.
The run is not just to keep the hearts healthy and fit but also for the benefit of children with cancer.
